The annual Perfect Woman Competition was established by Bullock Bar publican Stew Burt and his late wife Liz, in 2002.
Stew & Liz established The Canlive Cancer Trust to assist people with cancer in The Central Otago Region after they attended the Gawler Foundation in Australia and were so taken with what they were taught on cancer self help they wanted to make it more accessible to kiwis.
In 1975 Ian Gawler had terminal bone cancer. He made a remarkable recovery and still lives today by using meditation, organic food, positive thinking and loving support, etc. www.gawler.org
The Canlive Cancer Trust hosts 8 day residential programmes for people with active cancer and their support people. These programmes are endorsed by The Gawler Foundation in Australia and taken now by Ian & Ruth Gawler in Wanaka. A number of local people were able to attend these programmes thanks to the generous financial support of this competition.
The Bullock Bar is proud to provide annual financial support every year to the CanLive Cancer Trust from the hosting of the Perfect Woman Competition.
